150 Anniversary

Events to mark the 150th anniversary of worship and service on the present site.

REFRESHMENTS were served every day

An ANNIVERSARY MEAL  entitled 'A Sparkling Celebration Supper' was held on Saturday 4th August in the Victoria Room. It was a sell-out and enjoyed by all who attended.

FLOWER FESTIVAL by HARROGATE FLOWER CLUB  proved to be a resounding success. Over 80 people attended the evening on a very rare balmy evening! Coun Caroline Bayliss opened the event and guests sampled the home-made canapes accompanied by a glass of wine

The Festival opened to the general public on Thursday 9th until Saturday 11th and entry was free. Most visitors stayed for refreshments after viewing the splendid displays by the ladies of the Flower Club. Arrangements depicted the past 150 years, the Olympic Games, the Diamond Jublilee, various aspects of worship in the Church, the community work undertaken by the Church, Harrogate in Bloom and last but not least the 40th birthday of the formation of the United Reformed Church.

SERVICE OF CELEBRATION & THANKSGIVING

was held on Sunday 12th August 10.30.  the Preacher was the Moderator of the Yorkshire Synod Revd Kevin Watson and we were honoured by the presence of the Mayor & Mayoress Coun Robert Windass and Mrs Sylvia Windass.

In the afternoon the Church remained open for friends to gather to witness a fly-past by a Spitfire of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to mark the day and close the festival.

Once again a very success occasion thanks to many dedicated people.
