Stray View Coffee Shop is now open 5 days a week - Tuesday to Saturday.

Skills 4 Living staff the Wednesday and Friday openings as part of the training programme for young adults. Do support this valuable training for these young people.

History of the alterations

The first workmen moved in on Friday 23rd January 2009 to strip the area of fittings apparently much sort after for churches in America wishing to replicate Victorian England.

After some six years in the planning (and gaining all relevant planning consents) work began on Monday 26th to enlarge the vestibule area and create a larger kitchen and toilet facilities.

Worship took place for several weeks in the Victoria Room at the rear of the premises. It was somewhat cosy but felt to be preferable to the dust etc that accompanies building works.

The Tuesday and Saturday Coffee Shops were closed until April but the Thursday morning relocated to the Victoria Room.

Entrance to the Church was via the doors in either Victoria Avenue or Raglan Street on Thursdays.

Carpets, floor covering, paint colours and units for the kitchen were all chosen to a scheme. There were many men working in the area, all attending to their own particular trade. It has been a great experience to see it all take shape.

An army of volunteers scrubbed, cleaned, dusted and polished until the sanctuary gleamed.

We reopened  in April with a much larger space for the Coffee Shops and as the area is self-contained, is a very pleasant meeting room with unparalled views over the Stray.

On Monday 10th August Harrogate in Bloom will host the presentation prior to the judging of the competition.
